You may recognize Kaitlyn and Josh from my social media and around on the website. They have been with the LSP family for a while now and it all started when Josh proposed to Kaitlyn in my photo booth a few years ago! I was at the Urbana Country Club for a Masquerade themed fundraiser for the Young Professionals of Champaign Urbana. Josh’s cousin leads the organization and anytime he has an event, he and Kaitlyn make a trip down from Chicago to support him.
Their engagement was hands down the most exciting set of images that booth has ever captured! The moment we met, I knew they were a couple I’d love to work with. They are friendly, genuine, and happy in love! Once the shock and excitement started to set in for Kaitlyn I introduced myself. They invited me to stick around after the event for a drink and conversation and I am so glad I did.
A few months later, we met up in Champaign, Illinois for their winter engagement session. We stopped at Blind Pig Brewery, a favorite past time for the couple, and meandered around downtown Champaign. The following summer, I visited them in Chicago for part two of their engagement session in Fulton Market. It was a one of the hottest days of summer, so we rounded out the evening with tacos and margs at their favorite Mexican place after the session.
September of 2020 rolled around and with all things 2020, COVID just had to let its presence be known. Kaitlyn and Josh opted to hold their ceremony only with their family and streamed it for friends to join.
That brings us to October of 2021! The last year has been a busy one for them with buying a house and soon becoming parents! What I really love about Kaitlyn and Josh is that no matter what life throws at them, they have the best attitude about it. They, like so many of us the last two years, have learned that the best thing to do is pivot. Heck, just a few weeks before the wedding they were wondering if it was even going to be safe and wise to hold a reception to celebrate all life has blessed them with this year!
I am so, so happy for them that they were able to finally have the wedding day they have planned for this whole time. As a COVID bride myself, I know the stress they’ve experienced, but boy oh boy, was it sure worth it. During the day, we had to work quickly because there was a chance of rain. I am so thankful for their large wedding party’s listening skills because no sooner than we went inside, the skies opened up for good shower before the ceremony. You’d never know though, by looking at their images! Unless you mean the rainbow and the dimensional detail in the sky!
Their venue, Northfork Farm in Oswego, Illinois is a working horse farm and has so many charming places around the property to shoot. The staff was so friendly and I look forward to the chance to shoot there again in the future!
Kaitlyn and Josh, you two mean so much to me. Your friendship and support professionally and personally has been the best gift I could have asked for. I am quite excited to watch as you guys navigate parenthood and look forward to the opportunity to continue documenting all life has in store for you.
Love,
Lisa
