Natalie and Ahmad were married on a quiet rainy Friday in Mahomet at the brand new venue Company 421. It was only the venue’s second wedding and I am looking forward to photographing a handful more there this year.
Their wedding was an intimate occasion, filled with many of their closest friends and family, and I must say, I am loving the smaller weddings taking place recently. There is just something about them that has a sense of peace and I have noticed that my couples have far more time to mingle and greet every one of their guests – something even we didn’t have a chance to do and our guest list was smaller than most. I witnessed Natalie say hello and hug nearly every single person in the room and that rarely happens at bigger weddings.
Upon my arrival, their planner Hillary, owner of Hillary Rae Events, already had Natalie’s details gathered for me to photograph. I enjoy starting every wedding day by photographing the details because it gets me into a creative mindset and sets the tone for the rest of the day. They had the prettiest invitation suite adorned with silver foil that caught the light beautifully. Their escort cards and table numbers matched the invitation suite beautifully. Natalie not only had her own jewelry, but a very special set sent to her by Ahmad’s parents from their home overseas. While they weren’t present, they were there in spirit.
Julie, owner of Flora Design Studio in Mahomet, was there putting the finishing touches on the centerpieces and STUNNING mantle statement piece as I finished up details, and oh my gosh, I could have photographed those flowers for days! I loved the touches of blue in the florals along with the creamy roses and fresh greenery.
Because the guest list and wedding party were small, we had plenty of time to photograph both with time to space for the couple to relax with their friends and family before the ceremony. The whole cocktail hour was spent mingling and enjoying some seriously delicious appetizers from Michael’s Catering, who was there cooking on site! It was fun to see them in action. They’ve been a fellow vendor at many weddings over the years and I always know the supper is going to be yummy.
Natalie and Ahmad, thank you for allowing me to document such a special time in your lives as you become husband and wife. Your love for one another is clear to see and I wish you all the best!
Love,
Lisa
